The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said it responded just before 3:30 p.m. to the 3300 block of Mercedes Drive in Fayetteville for a shooting.

Deputies found "an unresponsive juvenile" with a gunshot wound. The child was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and is in critical condition. ABC11 sources at the scene said the child was later flown to another hospital.
In first responder's radio communication with the hospital, they said the victim was an 8-year-old girl who sustained a gunshot to the head.
Authorities have not confirmed those details.
ABC11 also learned that the shooting may have been the result of an "accidental discharge."
No official information was immediately released about the circumstances of the shooting.
