The fire broke out late afternoon at a house in the 5300 block of Castlebrook Drive, just outside the city limits of eastern Raleigh.
A man did not survive. A woman was taken to WakeMed, according to Wake New Hope Fire Chief. Tim Guffey but later died also.
A dog was rescued.
Friends rallied around the victims' two sons Monday evening offering support after the deadly fire.
The fire call went out just after 5 p.m. Fire crews were still spraying the home with water just before 10 p.m.
Flames burned holes through the home's roof. Firefighters were on top of the house working to put out the fire.
Raleigh firefighters attacked the flames as Wake New Hope crews supplied water.
Guffey said multiple vehicles were also burned along with the garage and the back of the home.
Half of the home sustained fire damage; the other parts had significant heat, smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
The Wake County fire marshal's office will visit the site Tuesday morning along with the sheriff's office.
