Woman found floating in Cape Fear River identified

FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina (WTVD) -- The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says a woman found floating in in the Cape Fear River August 10 has been identified as 19-year-old Kristen Lee Stone.

She was originally from Jacksonville, North Carolina but had most recently been living in Greenville.

Her body was found by a fisherman tangled in a tree near Carvers Falls Road.

It's still not clear how she died. Deputies said the medical examiner is waiting for lab results.
