2 Durham sheriff's vehicles involved in chase, crash

DURHAM, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Two Durham County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicles were badly damaged in a crash Thursday afternoon.

The Sheriff's office said a deputy was attempting to serve an arrest warrant during a traffic stop when the suspect sped off.

A short pursuit ended when the vehicles crashed near Stadium Drive at North Duke Street near Duke Regional Hospital.

One of the patrol cars hit a light pole and knocked down power lines in the area.

No one was hurt.

The suspect was taken into custody.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
