Durham police investigating 3rd murder in 3 days

DURHAM (WTVD) -- For the third day in a row, Durham police are investigating a murder.

Durham police said a man was killed Tuesday night at an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Guess Road. This is Durham's third deadly shooting in as many days.

Authorities said the shooting was reported around 11:15 p.m. at the Willowdale Apartments. Upon arrival, officers found 24-year-old Cesar Yanez Ortiz, of Durham, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Durham Police are also investigating a homicide that happened Monday night in the 3200 block of Rowena Avenue, near Checkerberry.

Officers responded to a sound of shots call at 10:19 p.m. When they arrived, they found Jamond Lee Alston, 22, of Durham dead inside a crashed car.

On Sunday, Durham police responded to a deadly shooting at the Crossland Economy Studios on Highway 55 near Allendown Drive.

Police said George Beamon, 50, of Raleigh was found shot to death inside a hotel room.
