Durham Police Department said a white minivan with three people inside ran a red light and crashed into the police car. The police car then crashed into a nearby Indian restaurant. There was no one inside the building at the time of the crash.
The minivan had significant damage to its front end. The 48-year-old female driver was taken to the hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
A female passenger and a child inside the minivan were injured, but the first responders on the scene treated and released them.
There was one officer in the police car. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
