On October 4, the Johnston County Sheriff's Office received a report of indecent liberties from the Durham County Sheriff's Office about an incident that allegedly happened during the 2015-16 school year.

Kevin Wade Moore, who was employed as a JROTC teacher at Hillside High School, is alleged to have inappropriately touched and solicited sexual acts from a juvenile student at Hillside.

The alleged incident took place at Moore's home on Balmoral Street in Clayton, the Johnston County Sheriff's Office said.

Moore was charged with one count of indecent liberties with a student.

A Durham Public Schools spokesman told ABC11's Jonah Kaplan that Moore resigned October 10 and is no longer at Hillside.

The news of the arrest broke on the day the Durham Board of Education announced a new schools superintendent. The spokesman said board members were just learning of the situation involving Moore and that Dr. Pascal Mubenga, the new DPS superintendent is unaware of the situation.
