RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Just over 2 million North Carolinians cast their ballot before Election Day.[br /][br /]Early voting this year outpaced the non-presidential midterm in 2014 by more than double.[br /][br /]Of the 2 million voters, 866,044 of them were registered Democrats, 617,705 of them were registered Republicans, 549,119 were not affiliated with any party, and 5,515 were registered Libertarians.[br /][/br][br /][Ads /][br /][url HREF="https://abc11.com/apps/" TARGET="new" REL=""][b]Stay on top of breaking news stories with the ABC11 News App[/b][/url][br /][br /]Even more impressive is the fact that this is a "blue moon" election year, which means there are no statewide races on the ballots.[br /][br /][post ID="4419238" /][br /][br /]On Saturday, voters shared why it was important for them to make it to the polls.[br /][Ads /][br /]"Your vote actually does count. A lot of people say 'oh, if I vote, I'm not going to have a say.' Or 'if I vote things are not going to change.' Well, that's exactly the reason why you should vote," Chana Ricketts told ABC11.
