The Chapel Hill Police Department is investigating.
Principal Eileen Tully said the subject of the investigation is no longer at the school, but did not name the individual. No charges have been filed.
"I know that students and parents have many questions. I am sorry that I cannot share additional details at this time as the law requires me to protect student and employee confidentiality. Please know that my top priority is, and always will be, the safety and protection of my students," said Tully in a message to parents.
The incident allegedly happened on school grounds.

The principal referred to the employee as the suspect and said that person has been terminated and will not be returning to campus. Students that ABC11 spoke to said the incident involved one of the school's security guards and they are shocked something like this could happen on their campus.
"That's just crazy. That's your place of work. You're just screwing around with somebody that's underage. I can't believe it," said Jamil Sanchez, a junior at the school.
Another junior, Andrew Siemienski, said. "You're supposed to be keeping campus safe and stuff, and that's not what was going on."
Chapel Hill Police have not yet responded to requests for comment.
