RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Raleigh police arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting Saturday afternoon.
Willie Edward Frederick, 52, was arrested and charged with murder in connection in the shooting death of Aaron Jamel Downer, 26.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at around 1:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Piedmont Ridge Circle. Officers found Downer suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
A report released Saturday shows how many guns were seized in Durham, but the effort is amid ongoing gun violence, especially in Raleigh.
The shooting in Raleigh is the fifth murder this week. Community activists are calling for people to be involved in bringing awareness to gun violence, not just pressuring law enforcement.

"In my relationship with Chief Patterson, I think she's doing a tremendous job with what she has to work with. Lack of staff, her numbers are way down," Diana Powell with Justice Served NC said.
In Durham, Sheriff Clarence Birkhead says more than 100 guns were seized so far on track to seize more this year. There were more than 200 guns seized in 2021.
