Man sought in Fayetteville murder arrested in Richmond County

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man wanted for murder in a deadly Cumberland County shooting was arrested early Monday, the sheriff's office said Monday.

On Saturday, deputies responded to calls about a verbal disturbance just after 8 p.m. in the 4200 block of Dudley Road. When deputies arrived they found Bryant Thomas King, 34, with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Sunday, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office obtained warrants on Hamzah Abdullah Thompson of Fayetteville. He is being charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of King.



Thompson, 20, was arrested just before 12:30 a.m. Monday in Rockingham. He is being held at the Richmond County Detention Center.
