Shooting that killed 2 at Cumberland County home believed to be drug-related, sheriff's office says

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two people are dead and two more are injured after a shooting Wednesday morning in Cumberland County.

The shooting happened on Charlie Drive in Fayetteville around 5 a.m.

A spokesperson for the sheriff's office said deputies were called for a report of a home invasion.

Previously, it was believed the resident shot four people during a break-in.

However, the sheriff's office now says the shooting was believed to be drug-related and not random.

Authorities say a man walked into the home and shot four others.

Two of them have died from their injuries, according to the sheriff's office. One is at a local hospital in critical condition.



The fourth sustained non life-threatening injuries.

The homicide unit is investigating.
