Woman killed in shooting in Fayetteville was 911 dispatcher

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A woman who was killed in a deadly shooting in Fayetteville Monday night was a 911 dispatcher.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. at a home in the 6400 block of Pittsfield Drive.

Tanajwa McMurray, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said it was not a random incident.

"Ms. McMurray was a telecommunicator in our 911 Call Center and our team is deeply saddened," a Cumberland County EMS spokesperson said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time."

The Fayetteville Police Department's homicide unit is investigating.
