Fayetteville Police identify 2 suspects charged after standoff at home

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two people are in custody after a standoff at a home where a person wanted by authorities for a string of robberies was barricaded inside Tuesday night.

Both were evaluated at a hospital before being taken to jail.

The standoff was on Previs Road and started before 4 p.m.

Police said area residents alerted them to the scene. FPD advised residents of the 2500 block that there was a heavy police presence in the area and for people coming home to prepare to be on "standby" as they enter the neighborhood.

On Thursday, police said tips that a man wanted in a string of robberies was at the Previs Road home led authorities there and resulted in the ensuing standoff.

The wanted suspect was identified on Thursday as Kenneth Earl Young, 38, of Fayetteville.



Young was charged with five counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. five counts of felony possession of stolen property, five counts of second-degree kidnapping, five counts of possession of firearm by felon, and one count of resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer.

Young was denied bond and was being held at Cumberland County Jail.

The second barricaded suspect was identified as Crystal Ann Kirby, 42, of Fayetteville.

Kirby had an active order for arrest for failure to appear in court. Kirby also was charged with one count of resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer.



Kirby was denied bond and was also taken to the Cumberland County Jail.

Previs Road was blocked off for about three blocks.

The Crisis Negotiation Team and ERT, Violent Crime Apprehension Team were all at the scene working to bring the incident to a successful conclusion after about eight hours.
