Bragg Boulevard from Swain Street to Sycamore Dairy Road and Sycamore Dairy Road from Bragg Boulevard to Legend Avenue were closed to traffic.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area.
Fayetteville Police told ABC11 that a nearby Motel 6 was evacuated. About 45 people have been affected.

A subcontractor working for the general contractor Barnhill struck a natural gas line while doing work, a spokesperson for the North Carolina Department of Transportation told ABC11.
"We are assisting local emergency officials, who have closed this section of Bragg Boulevard as a precaution, and coordinating with the general contractor to resolve this issue as quickly as possible," said Andrew Barksdale of the NCDOT.

An incident commander told ABC11 that this was a 12-inch gas line and the repairs were extensive.
The incident impacted drivers all morning in that area.
Fayetteville Fire Department said the gas line was capped around noon.
Crews created a bypass by running a piece of pipe around the damaged area t went in and repaired the damage.
