ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- An elementary school student brought a gun to class in Nash County on Friday, and now the child's uncle is facing charges.

Nash County Public Schools said thanks to a tip from another student at Winstead Avenue Elementary School, the School Resource Officer (SRO) was able to confiscate a gun and remove the 7-year-old student who had the weapon. On Monday, Rocky Mount Police announced that 30-year-old Anival Puddy is facing charges in the investigation. RPD said Puddy is the 7-year-old's uncle.

Police said their investigation determined the .40-caliber gun came from Puddy's house in Rocky Mount.
