Sheriff Ronnie Fields told breaking news crews on the scene one person was found on the porch and one was found inside.
The victims were identified as 91-year-old D.P. Black and 86-year-old Mary Lou Black.
Longtime friend of the family, Karl Mitschke is still processing their loss, he says D.P. was a successful businessman and property owner in the area. The couple was known for their generosity and devotion to their church.
"DP was just a good man. Mary Lou sweet, wonderful lady. They loved their grandchildren and their great-grandchildren. He was a family man," added Mitschke. He had known the couple for nearly three decades.
"I sought his council like I would from my own father when he was living," said Mitschke.
"Everybody knew DP," said Michelle Tew, the owner of Sizzlin Steak or Eggs, a restaurant he frequented. She knew DP her entire life, and last saw him earlier in the week
"Really nice guy. Never had anything bad to say about anybody. He was a jokester," said Tew.
