Wednesday, June 5, 2019

There are also 31 non-venomous species in the Tar Heel state.

According to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, the copperhead can be considered the most dangerous in North Carolina because they can be found in many areas of the state -- the only one a person is likely to encounter.

However, the eastern coral snake and the eastern diamondback rattlesnake possess very powerful venom.

If bitten by a snake, contact the Carolinas Poison Center at (800) 848-6946.
