FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 40-year-old man is dead after a shooting involving Fayetteville officers.
According to a news release from the Fayetteville Police Department, around 7:39 p.m., officers responded to reports of an armed person, who was suicidal, at a mobile home park on Hickory View Court. After arriving on the scene, officers reported seeing a man with two knives.

According to officials, there were five officers present who tried to deescalate the situation. After giving verbal commands to drop the knives, they used a taser. They said the man went down, but was able to get back up still armed with the knives and advanced towards officers. Officers then shot the man who died on the scene.
The man has been identified as 40-year-old Justin Livesay.

The case has been handed to North Carolina SBI for investigation.
The involved officers will be placed on administrative duty, pending the outcome of the investigation, as is standard procedure. The Fayetteville Police Department's Internal Affairs Unit will conduct an internal investigation to ensure all departmental policies and procedures were adhered to during the incident.
