The Johnston County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a small plane crash at around 4:30p.m. Upon arrival, officers determined a small passenger plane had crashed well off the roadway near the Johnston Regional Airport in Smithfield. T
The plane is registered to the Blueline Aviation, a flight school that operates out of Johnston Regional Airport.
Two passengers of the plane were transported to the hospital.
Officials say both passengers were alert and conscious. No additional information is known as to the extent of the injuries.
