The White House says the trip will include a visit to Wolfspeed, a semi-conductor manufacturer in RTP where the president will talk about American manufacturing.
The Investing in America tour will be taking President Biden and cabinet members all across the country, and the President is kicking things off in the Bull City.
Durham-based Wolfspeed will be Biden's first stop on Tuesday and the visit will highlight how American Rescue Plan money is being used.
Durham Mayor Pro Temp Mark-Anthony Middleton says the decision proves that RTP is a major player in the tech industry.
"POTUS is coming, it's very exciting. What more appropriate American city than Durham," he said.
Middleton says local leaders need to find ways to handle the ever-growing population.
"It means that we've got to make smart decisions in terms of infrastructure that's within our control," said Middleton. "We as a government are obligated to make sure that all we can do is done to manage the growth, smartly."
Wolfspeed produces silicon carbide.

The Secretary of Commerce and EPA Administrator are also set to visit North Carolina after the President's visit.
It's not known at this time if the president will be making any other stops while in the area.
