1 dead, 3 injured in Granville County shooting; investigation underway

OXFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- One person is dead and three others were injured after a shooting in Granville County Monday night.

According to the Granville County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 4100 block of Emily Lane in Oxford, where they found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Three other people were also injured but did not require medical treatment.

Investigators say the shooting happened around 10:17 p.m. after several people were involved in an argument that escalated into an exchange of gunfire.

Authorities executed search warrants at two homes on Emily Lane. Multiple people were detained, and interviews are ongoing.



The investigation remains active, and officials say more information will be released as it becomes available.
