The crash happened near the Jonesboro Road bridge and the Hodges Chapel Road bridge in Dunn.
Officials told an ABC11 crew on the scene that six cars were involved.
At least one person was taken to Betsy Johnson Hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash blocked both lanes of traffic on the northbound side.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
