Officers responded to the crash near the intersection of Person Street and Peace Street.
Investigators found that the non-school-affiliated activity bus first struck a Tesla that was parked on the west side of Peace Street. The bus then left the roadway, traveled west toward Pace Street and collided with two additional parked vehicles and a utility pole before crashing into the front of a residence.
Neighbors shared photos from the scene with ABC11.
Police said none of the parked vehicles were occupied. The house was also unoccupied after the previous residents recently moved out.
The driver, identified by police as Gary Kearse, 58, was taken to WakeMed with minor injuries. He was later charged with driving while impaired, according to investigators.
One neighbor, Robert Hutzlar, said he was asleep when the crash happened. His truck was among the vehicles damaged.
"I just heard a bunch of noise going on, like something got hit out here. I thought maybe in a wreck or something," Hutzlar said. "Then I come outside and see a bus sitting in this man's front porch."
Neighbors said they are thankful no one was hurt and that the home was empty at the time of the crash.
Court records reviewed by ABC11 show Kearse was also charged with DWI in Cary earlier this year. According to those records, his blood alcohol concentration was 0.23, nearly three times North Carolina's legal limit of 0.08.
As for Hutzlar, he said he is now waiting to learn whether his truck will be declared a total loss.
The crash remains under investigation.
