The music coming out of the Mac's Tavern was all for Brandon Russell who is still healing from his injuries from such a horrific night that changed his life forever.
"Anything can be overcome with a bigger community," said Mark Richie.
Police say Russell was injured in a head-on-collision early in the morning of October 26. The community was shocked.
"Always heartbreaking for the ones that are the innocent ones. You know, they weren't expecting that to happen that day," said Sue Tompkins.
The suspect, 16-year-old Ashton Rahlfs, is also accused of striking and killing 14-year-old Max Dunham--- who was riding his bike. Rahlfs was in court this week where he faces several charges, including second-degree murder and DWI.
Russell's family says he is progressing.
"Brandon, we got your back and we are praying for you every single day. And you are a fighter and you're amazing," said Wanda Thompson Lowery.
The band Skin Tight and Mojo Foot took the stage, performing for Russell. Russell's father is a fellow musician and band mates with some of the performers.
"We realized they were supposed to play here tonight. The father of the injured. And we decided we would try to do a benefit," said Jason Barber with Mojo Foot.
"Musicians help musicians at will. That's what we do," said Wanda Thompson Lowery.
