FAIRVIEW, N.C. (WTVD) -- A teenager is facing first-degree murder charges after three members of her family were found dead inside a Western North Carolina home, according to authorities.

On Thursday, the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office was called to a home on Ashworth Drive in Fairview for a welfare check after relatives reported they had not heard from the family. Deputies entered the home and found 41-year-old Travis Eugene Grant, 42-year-old Kimberly Michelle Grant, and 66-year-old Sharon Harwood Grant shot to death.

ABC affiliate WLOS reported that authorities said the victims were the parents and grandmother of a 16-year-old girl who lived at the home. Investigators later determined the teen -- identified as Star Grant -- was missing.

Officials said deputies had conducted earlier welfare checks at the home in the days leading up to the discovery but did not have grounds to enter until Thursday.

Authorities said Star Grant may have been in the Gatlinburg, Tennessee, area with Devan Loving, 28.

With assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Gatlinburg Police Department, investigators tracked the pair to a Gatlinburg hotel, where they were taken into custody Friday morning.

Star Grant and Loving are each charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony conspiracy to commit murder. Grant will be charged as an adult, the sheriff's office confirmed.

Authorities have not released a possible motive in the case.

They will face an extradition hearing in Tennessee before being returned to Buncombe County.

In a statement, Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller said: "We would like to express our condolences to the family of these victims. We would also like to share our gratitude for our team of Patrol Deputies, Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators, and those leading these teams. Most of them have not slept because they have focused on nothing but arriving at this outcome that will hopefully bring closure to those impacted by this tragedy."
