Child dies after being struck by car in Zebulon

The 1-year-old was hit in the Ridgecrest Drive area and was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

ZEBULON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 1-year-old who was struck by a car on Wednesday in Zebulon has died.

On Thursday, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol identified the child as Jonathan Martinez-Juarez.

The incident happened on the 1100 block of Ridgecrest Drive about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

That's a dirt road in a residential area in the.Franklin County part of Zebulon.

The child was rushed to WakeMed in critical condition but later died from his injuries.

There is no word on any charges.
