Creedmoor Mayor Antwane Downey charged with DWI after crashing into ditch, tree

CREEDMOOR, N.C. (WTVD) -- Creedmoor Mayor Antwane Terrill Downey is facing a driving while impaired charge after crashing into a tree earlier this week.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash happened Monday on US 15 near State Road 1635 in Granville County.

State troopers said Downey, 43, was driving south when he crossed the center line and traveled off the roadway, hitting a ditch and a tree.

Downey sustained minor injuries and was treated at a hospital.

He has since been charged with DWI, driving while license revoked, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.



According to court documents obtained by ABC11, this is Downey's fourth DWI.
