CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Kane Realty is proposing two new mixed-use developments in Cary.

The company is calling the first development Flatiron.

It would be located downtown on Chatham Street across from Vicious Fishes Brewery.

Flatiron is a proposed seven-story, mixed-use building on approximately two acres at 602 W. Chatham Street and 523 Old Apex Road.

On Thursday, Kane Realty shared a rendering of the seven-story mixed-use building with more than 200 apartments and restaurant and retail space.

"Cary has become one of the fastest-growing communities in the country, and its downtown is transforming just as quickly. Flatiron is an opportunity to help shape downtown with thoughtfully designed, walkable, mixed-use places that create long-term value for the community. 7001 Weston answers a different question-how an established suburban office corridor evolves to help solve a housing problem that wasn't present when it was built," said Mike Smith, Chief Executive Officer at Kane Realty.

Kane Realty is collaborating with Highwoods Properties to redevelop an office building on Weston Parkway.

The plan calls for a five-story multi-family building at the corner of Weston Parkway and Norwell Boulevard.

7001 Weston would reimagine an aging office site.

The building would include 275 apartments with 5% of the units considered affordable housing.

Town of Cary officials have not yet approved either project.

Kane Realty is also behind a Dix Park townhome community development.
