More than 6,000 customers in Wake County are affected by outages, while more than 2,000 customers are without power in Durham County. In Cumberland County, more than 3,000 customers are without electricity.
50,000 Moore County residents are without power in Moore County.
Because of downed power lines in Wake Forest, Burlington Mills Road is closed between 1 World Way and Urial Drive.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area. There is no estimated timetable for the road to reopen.
Storm Damage:
There have been several reports of storm damage in Moore County. Multiple trees are down on roadways across the county, and community members have come out to help first responders' clear debris.
According to ABC11 photojournalist Patrick Priest, a tree fell onto a neighbor's vehicles and power lines during the storm.
A tree also fell onto a vehicle along U.S. Highway 15-501, shutting down the roadway. The driver was taken to a hospital.
Officials told ABC11 the driver was alert and did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.
