DURHAM (WTVD) -- A power outage affecting thousands of customers caused quite the headache in parts of Durham on Saturday.

Duke Energy reported more than 3,000 customers were without power around 6:30 a.m. Soon after 4:30 p.m., less than 25 customers were still without power.

The area affected stretched from Garrett Road to a huge chunk of University Drive and U.S. 15-501.

Our crew said intersections were clogging up because some drivers were unclear how to navigate the roads without traffic lights.

Multiple traffic lights were also out during the incident.

Some stores stayed open, including the Super Target on Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard.

Target employees placed a cart-barrier in front of their refrigerators to try and salvage the perishable items.
