DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Debate night in Durham brought together incumbent Mayor Leonardo Williams and challenger Anjanee Bell at North Carolina Central University, just days before Election Day.

The lively debate at North Carolina Central University provided younger voters with a chance to hear directly from the candidates.

Both Williams and Bell emphasized the importance of engaging students and young people in the election.

"I hope they heard something tonight that relates to them and inspires them to go to the poll right here on campus at North Carolina Central and actually vote," Williams said.

Bell added, "I just hope the young people are fired up about getting involved. And I will say, especially for the young women who were in the audience, I think it's very important to see representation."

The winner of Tuesday's election will serve a two-year term as Bull City mayor.
