Officers with the Durham Police Department responded just before 1 p.m. to the 1000 block of Merrick Street after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot.
The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators said preliminary information indicates the shots were fired from a vehicle. That car left the scene, and no suspect information has been released.
Police said the investigation remains active, and additional details were not immediately available.
