GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- A section of East Garner Road in southeast Wake County will close for about 45 days beginning Monday as part of the Complete 540 Phase 2 project.
The N.C. Department of Transportation and the N.C. Turnpike Authority said East Garner Road will be closed between Auburn Knightdale Road and Rock Quarry Road while construction crews complete work associated with the southern extension of Interstate 540.
The closure is scheduled to begin Monday, July 13, and is expected to remain in place for approximately 45 days, weather permitting.
Drivers are being directed to use a posted detour route along Rock Quarry Road and Auburn Knightdale Road.
Transportation officials said the closure is necessary to support ongoing construction of the Complete 540 project.
