Man dead after getting hit by 2 cars on South Miami Blvd, Durham police say

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man is dead after getting hit by two cars Saturday morning, Durham police told ABC11.

Around 4:20 a.m. in the 3800 block of S. Miami Blvd, a 2016 Honda Accord was traveling north when it hit Ernest Howard, 55, of Fayetteville, who was walking in the roadway.

Police say Howard was not in a crosswalk or near an intersection at the time of the crash.

While first responders were on the way, he was hit a second time by another vehicle traveling northbound. This vehicle left the scene before authorities arrived.

Impairment was not suspected to be a contributing factor. The incident remains under investigation.
