Cannon was killed in 2020. The man charged in the shooting later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
This weekend, Cannon's family and supporters held the first annual "Ride On Cannon Easter Eggstravaganza," a free community event focused on bikes, Easter fun and spreading positivity.
Cannon's mother, Bonny Parker, said she believes her son would be proud of how they are choosing to honor him.
"I think he's proud for what we've done and this honor. This isn't the only thing that we do," Parker said. "I think today he definitely smiled down on us and is just proud of people."
Parker said Cannon loved being outdoors, and the family hopes to bring that same brightness to others.
"Bringing positive to Wilson - you don't see much of that in this world today," she told ABC11.
The event included an Easter egg hunt designed for children of all abilities and a major giveaway: 65 bicycles for kids of all ages, along with door prizes for parents.
Teresa Welch, with the Ride On Cannon Foundation, said the idea came from Cannon's love of biking and his late April birthday.
"We celebrate Cannon's birthday on April 30, and he always loved riding his bike," Welch said. "So what better way to celebrate Cannon than by holding a big Easter egg event, giving away free bicycles to kids in attendance, having cake and just enjoying the day in his honor."
Welch said the nonprofit hopes to give families experiences they might not otherwise have.
"We want children to know that they're seen and heard and that they're valued," she said. "Some families can't get away or go to amusement parks, so we try to bring memories to families - because you never know when that last memory is going to be."
The Ride On Cannon Foundation plans to host additional events throughout the year, including back to school drives, holiday meals and gift programs.
