The most intense drought conditions are concentrated north of the Triangle, including parts of Person, Granville and neighboring counties. Areas around Roxboro remain in extreme drought, while surrounding communities are experiencing severe drought conditions.
Much of the Triangle, including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary and nearby communities, remains under moderate to severe drought.
Dry conditions also continue across portions of eastern and southeastern North Carolina.
Forecasters will monitor rainfall trends in the coming weeks as the region looks for additional rain to further improve drought conditions.
UPDATE: Recent rainfall conditions have improved enough to allow Harnett Regional Water to lift the stage 1 water conservation measures in Harnett County. Harnett County Residents and businesses can return to normal water usage while continuing to use water responsibly to avoid water waste.
