Gas leak briefly forces evacuation at Apex school

APEX (WTVD) -- A gas leak briefly forced an evacuation at Apex Elementary School Wednesday morning.

PSNC officials told ABC11 that a 4-inch gas line was damaged by a third party on Tigen Road around 8:35 a.m., causing the leak.

The Apex Fire Department was called to the scene, and the school was evacuated.

Utility crews secured the line just before 9:20 a.m., and students were allowed back into the school.
