Three cars were struck by gunfire. One vehicle had the driver's side window shattered on the 400 block of Evolve Drive.
An occupied apartment building was also struck. A couple told ABC11 that their third-floor unit was hit by gunfire and they had a hole in the wall. One person was inside the unit.
No one was injured, police said.
The shooting happened while some residents were still coming home from work or out walking their dogs. Some neighbors told ABC11 that this is a quiet neighborhood and that the shooting was unusual.
"I was just sitting there on my phone, and then I heard a couple, it sounded like suppressed gunfire," said resident Dakota Guthrie "I wasn't sure at first, I thought maybe it was fireworks, you know, because of July Fourth, it's not been about a month or so, but I was thinking that didn't sound right, then I heard an ambulance about 10 minutes later."
He said he didn't see anything, and for his safety, opted not to go outside.
Garner police officers remained in the area late Tuesday evening gathering information, processing evidence, and working to determine what led to the shooting.
No other details were immediately available.
