Hearing to discuss slayings of young Muslims postponed

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Attorneys were scheduled to meet with a judge Friday to discuss the case of Craig Hicks, who is accused of killing a Muslim couple and one of their relatives, but the hearing was postponed.

Attorneys representing the prosecution and the defense were slated to go over Hicks's pretrial case management before a judge in Durham, however, it has now been been delayed until June.

Hicks is charged with murder in the 2015 deaths of Deah Barakat; his wife, Yusor Abu-Salha; and her sister, Razan Abu-Salha. The couple were neighbors of the defendant, who was known for arguing over parking spots at a Chapel Hill apartment complex and also making Facebook posts disdaining all religions.

No trial date has been set.

The victims' families have sought to keep their memories alive by continuing philanthropy work they started, including a dental clinic for Syrian refugees.
