He later died from his injuries, his family told ABC11.
ABC11 spoke with the suspect's sister. She said her brother, Brad McCurdy, barricaded himself after allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend.
McCurdy then barricaded himself inside a white Chevrolet Silverado work pickup, where fire department officials say he ultimately shot and killed himself.
The shootings prompted a massive law enforcement presence in a Granville County neighborhood that turned into an hours-long standoff.
Officers from various agencies gathered near NC 96 and Pine Ridge Road in the Wilton area.
ABC11 learned that the shooting took place at another location, on Philo White Road, about a mile away.
It appears McCurdy drove to the Pine Ridge Road area after the shooting.
SWAT team members, deputies, and state troopers were all at the scene. Drones and K9s were also deployed.
Pine Ridge Road was blocked off. A shelter-in-place order has been issued for the neighborhood, a resident told ABC11.
Some residents were unable to access their homes because of the roadblock.
Vicky Jones was one of those. She said it was a "sad situation" after she heard that two people may have been shot.
Court paperwork showed that McCurdy had several charges, including trespassing and violating a restraining order.
