Firefighters responded to a fire call around 3:58 a.m. at a house in the 5600 block of Easton Street which is located in the Easton Acres neighborhood. Fire crews said flames had consumed the house then they arrived.
Five family members, which include a woman and her children, were able to get out. The person killed in the fire has been identified as 75-year-old Frankie Richardson.
Family members told investigators they were awakened by a loud explosion and smoke alarms. The cause of the fire has not been released at this time.
One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The house has been declared a total loss.
