CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Town of Cary is honoring Black History & African American Appreciation Month under the theme "The Brilliance of Resilience."

Throughout the month, Cary has held events focused on culture, art, and history, celebrating the strength and legacy of Black voices in our region.

Upcoming events include a conversation with Mark Curry, the hip-hop artist known for his role in Bad Boy Records' golden era and his contributions to iconic tracks like "Bad Boy for Life." On February 22 at the Cary Theater, Dancing with the Devil: A Conversation with Mark Curry offers an intimate look at his decade in the music industry, in which he candidly discusses the realities of working with major record labels and the often unseen side of the business. The evening concludes with an audience Q&A, followed by a book signing and meet-and-greet.

On February 28, the Willie Hinton Collective takes center stage at the Cary Arts Center with "Rise: The Story of Love and Resilience" A Journey of Healing through the Arts. The evening blends dance, theater, and music to highlight the importance of mental health and well-being.

On display through March 27 at Cary Town Hall, "Portraits of Resistance and Resilience" honors African American women with Wake County roots through quilts created by the Wake County Women Quilters. Each piece reflects stories of leadership, activism, and cultural legacy.

Also on view through early March at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center is "Within the Light: Finding the Balance," which features work by North Carolina native Chris Evans.
