Tuesday was that day.
Jerome McMillion bought a $5 High Voltage Cash ticket on Saturday at the Lucky Stop on Legion Road in Hope Mills.
When he scratched it off, he realized he had won the $200,000 top prize.
"I've been in a daze for the entire weekend," McMillion said with a laugh. "I almost fell and bumped my head."
He said that a day earlier, he was talking to a coworker about the lottery and told him, 'You've got to be in it to win it. I've always said, 'I'm going to Raleigh one day.'"

He went to lottery headquarters on Tuesday to claim his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $144,021.
"This is life-changing money to me," he said. "You don't even know how happy I am."

He said he plans to invest the money.
The High Voltage Cash game debuted in October with four $200,000 top prizes. One $200,000 prize remains to be claimed.
