Deputies responded to the Sleep Inn on Commerce Parkway Wednesday afternoon just before 4 p.m., according to the Johnston County Sheriff's Office. Anthony White, 58, was found dead in a room from a gunshot wound.
Officials said Anthony resided and worked at the hotel.
During the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 20-year-old David Lamont White of Angier for the murder of Anthony, who is his father. David was arrested later that night and is being held at the Johnston County Detention center without bond.
The motive remains unclear.
