Pictures from ABC11 Eyewitness viewers showed the cab of the truck was fully involved in flames.

The truck was stopped on the shoulder just feet from a new pedestrian bridge for the American Tobacco Trail, but the bridge was not damaged.

It wasn't clear what started the fire, but there were no reports of injuries.

As of 3:45 p.m., the incident was still affecting traffic. But by 5:30 p.m., all lanes of I-40 westbound were reopened.
