The Rocky Mount Police Department said Eric Patrick of Weldon was identified as a person of interest in the March 26 shooting at the Food Lion on North Fairview Road.
According to authorities, Patrick was located and taken into custody by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday.
Patrick is charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into occupied property.
He made a first appearance on Wednesday, where a judge set his bond at $1 million secured. Patrick was ordered held in the Edgecombe County Jail.
Police were initially called to the Food Lion at 113 N. Fairview Road for a reported shooting on March 26. Authorities said the scene was secured and there was no ongoing threat to the public. Roads in the area were later reopened.
Investigators have released limited details about the incident as the investigation remains ongoing.
