Police said it happened just after 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the Tiki Lounge on 105 E. Main Street.

Officers found the victim, Winford Junior Murchison, 31, of Sanford, had been shot several times in his lower abdomen. He was taken in a personal vehicle to Central Carolina Hospital where he died.

Saturday morning, 22-year-old Joshua Tahjai Brewington, of Mallard Cove in Sanford, was charged with first-degree murder.
Brewington was placed in Lee County Jail under no bond. His first appearance is scheduled for Monday, police said.
