Man, woman charged with assault on woman with disabilities in Wake County

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man and a woman are under arrest after they allegedly attacked a woman with disabilities, the Wake County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Deputies responded Thursday to an assault report in the 10400 block of Fanny Brown Road, near Raleigh.

On Wednesday, investigators arrested Rene Jean Howard, 54, and James Wiley Stephenson, 62, both of Fanny Brown Road.

Howard was charged with assault inflicting serious injury and felony assault on an individual with a disability. Stephenson was charged with interfering with emergency communication, assault inflicting serious injury, assault on a female, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, and felony assault on an individual with a disability.

No other details were immediately released. The incident remains under investigation.



Both suspects were being held at the Wake County Detention Center.
