Officers discovered 40-year-old Larry Alford and 34-year-old Brenda Whitaker, both of Durham, after police were called to the 100 block of Lodge Street just before 12:30 a.m. when the car they were in crashed into a minivan.
Details surrounding their deaths have not been released, but authorities did say they were shot. Police are investigating Alford's and Whitaker's deaths as homicide.
The investigation is ongoing.
